Docking and ManeuveringTraining Method - Back Next
Nothing takes the pleasure out of the wonderful sport of boating than the fear of having a bad experience docking in high winds and currents
Captain Don's training starts with you learning basic maneuvers in open waters. As your skill and confidence levels increase, you move into more difficult maneuvers in closer quarters.
You learn to analyze and anticipate how the wind and current affect your boat, and more importantly how you can control your boat under these adverse conditions.
During the entire process, Captain Don is coaching you in a calm, friendly, and supportive manner.
Your CUSTOM TRAINING MANUAL contains a series of unique docking diagrams that analyze every conceivable wind and current situation. Each diagram reviews your essential starting position and details how much power, and swing is needed in favorable or unfavorable wind directions and strengths. The timing of your steering, shifting, and throttling is clearly illustrated.
The Training Manual reinforces the skills you develop during the on-water sessions. It allows you to review a difficult maneuver on a windy day before executing a manuever. You can enter the marina knowing, in advance, the exact strategy to use. You can prepare your crew ahead of time by communicating your intentions and coordinating your plan.
The entire process “gets the knot out of your stomach” and allows you to maneuver your boat with a true sense of skill and confidence.
